They didn't tell Nintendo to shove it up their ass when they came swooping in to take the one title that would have kept the vita relevant in Japan. So why would they do it now.

Nintendo portables have had enough MH recently.  MHX, MHS, MHXX all on 3DS aswell as MHXX on Switch.  A MH World (MH5) on Switch next spring is too much milking on Nintendo platforms.

They're better off releasing a MHW/MH5 G/X version holiday 2018 on the Switch and ps4. That way they'll get the best of both worlds (pun intended).

You mean the mythical deal had any evidence? And the obvious difference is that the 3DS still was a viable market decision, deal or no deal.  Restricting this to home consoles is not a good idea.

And I doubt their fans on Switch would have cared if they got a true sequel. I guarantee you those who invested in a Switch anticipating some consistency will be miffed that they got XX, the most cash grabby of MonHun cash grabs, instead of a legit new game.

So no, this still strikes me as foolish in every sense.

Funny how it's a mythical deal for Nintendo but for big bad Sony the rumours are definitely true lol.

I think you need to get over this whole switch fans got fucked over.  what about all the MH fans who bought a Vita thinking it would come there?

And the difference here is capcom can release a portable version late in 2018/early 2019 if they want. Just accept the fact that the next mainline game is ps4 exclusive in Japan and multi in the west.  It's getting a nice big upgrade over the old 240p versions which is sweet too.

As I said you'll get the next MH game after world (MH5) so Switch fans will get sorted out eventually.
