Well with switch exclusive, multiplat with switch, or even without it being on switch mh5 is in development.
The thing is... 1) MHW is primarily for the West. Dont forget even Mh4u in the west did something like 1.5mil on 3ds. Which isnt bad numbers at all (and its not aimed at them). MHW isnt proven yet to be the huge hit (i think itll do good in the west) just yet and the game comes out in 2018.
2) MH is a yearly franchise, no way in hell mh5 isnt being developed and they are waiting on MHW performance to see what platforms the next installment will be on. MHW is like what a 2+year development game? Maybe 3years?
Capcom has alreadt made up their mind. Anyone knows with a business state of mind that switch is the platform to put a MH game on in japan as MH is a portable franchise (same as pokemon).
Of course its not ruled out im correct. Time will tell. Wait intill tgs, i bet mh5 will be revealed there for japan only (holiday 2018!) |
Dengeki were told by capcom today that this is a mainline MH developed by the main team. Not a spin off. They also said this is MH5 but they preferred the name world. So in all intents and purposes this is MH5 and in Japan it's ps4 exclusive.
So this is out early next year. I can see them releasing a P/X/G version or whatever they call it on Switch/ps4 in Japan holiday 2018. Dunno would they release it in the west too the same year as world (MH5).

MH had four games in five years (Freedom 2005, Freedom 2 2007, Freedom Unite 2008, Freedom 3 2010) which sold together 14.26M. 3DS had four games in four years (3G 2011, 4 2013, 4 Ultimate 2014, X 2015) which sold together 13.61M. 3DS had also a fourth game (XX in 2017) which sold another 1.5M. Looks like sales were stable despite the platform. |
I know it was stable but the point is it hit it's peak in Japan on psp. If they'd stayed with Sony who knows the entries the 3DS got might have sold even more on Playstation.
