Cross-posting from another thread because I think my comment fits here as well and adds to the discussion.

Except Sony now has to face with a ton of bad PR. Either way this is a genius move by MS and Nintendo (for allowing it). 

It's not like allowing cross-play would all of a sudden turn the tables and make XBOX and Nintendo outsell Sony lol.
