He doesn't care about money, all he cares about is his ego. Money is just a means to stroke his ego. But money doesn't work when the whole world is constantly attacking your ego.
You don't go on constant twitter rants when you're perfectly happy with your life.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
