Kind of, but due to how the situation between Pro and XB1X differs, expectations for how XB1X would be promoted was different as well. But Microsoft have been really pushing the power narrative of Scorpio agressively for almost a year with a lot of different slogans and hype building. And they chose to unveil it on the biggest stage at E3. It's price is above a standard console price, so they need something more to make the sale. Obviously that would be the power difference. But you want to be able to convey it in a way that gets people interested. Even though their games have to work on the original Xbox One, I'm sure they could have shown something new that would look recognisably impressive for Xbox One X. |
Well that is what is hard about selling a mid-gen version. How do you showcase how much better the games look or run? I doubt MS wants to have a side by side comparison showing a game running 4k/60fps on the one X and then the same game stuttering along at 900p/25fps on the One. While is does promote the one, it kind of bashes another of your products and console owners. You have to somehow sell your premium device while still making current owners feel like they are still being respecteed/appreciated.
