I wasn't talking about VGC, in general, but mostly Xbox fans. And not just the diehards. Quite a few of them thought this would be like a soft reboot of the brand. $399 price to appeal to the masses, with a few AAA exclusives announced to push the system. That didn't happen.

Well I woudl argue that Anthem looked like what is probably the coolest game I imagine we will see all E3. And that is coming from someone that can probably guarantee you that I will not even get the game.
But kind of the same situation that the Pro had. Can't really show off new games fro the system without alienating your prior systems. This is a mid-gen console, so all games will still work on prior consoles. Thus doesn' thave the "wow" I mean when watching all the trailers this E3 for Sony or MS, one has to realize that they will be using the Pro or the X to showcase, or even a PC enhanced version. Thus the majority of gamers out there are being "lied" to in a way. Watching some smooth 4k 60fps visuals when I get it on my slim or one, it will be 900/720 and 22 fps or some junk. But that is the problem with this midgen stuff that fans have been clamoring for. They all want their iphone yearly updates and s's for consoles i guess. |
Anthem did look nice. Of course, they ended their conference that was supposed to showcase why you need an Xbox with a multiplat, which says it all. And I don't even think they announced anything that was exclusive about it, either. Content or DLC.
As for the 2nd part, I think that is why Sony did its own event for it. It was a much smarter way to go about it. This was E3. This is where MS needed to pull out all the stops. Go all in. Make people need the Scorpio. I think it's just obvious they really don't care whether it succeeds or fails. If it does fail, they'll switch even more focus to Windows gaming. They just want to make some profit on it while it's available, not try to rebuild the Xbox brand.

Except all of those games are also available on the XBO S. And they are having a sale on that with quite a few models marked down to $249. That should lead to a resurgence of sales, not the same or less. Also, the $499 price is a turn off the mass consumer. So, a $249 XBO S that plays the same games would be more appealing.
