| JRPGfan said: Why am I asking this? well in another thread someone wrote "I like where xbox looks to be heading"... and I couldnt help but think of all the bad "rate xbox e3" scores in the thread about it, plus we got a "Im starting to give up on phil.." thread. Theres a thread like that on neogaf called "I thought the Xbox show was fine, despite things missing. I'm a little worried though". In that thread, theres a few pictures that are being massively qouted. They are these: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DCHcfMbVwAQ3sjo.jpg

It looks like Microsoft is "stepping" down in terms of software output. With the games cancelled (such as scalebound) and them closeing down the studio that does Fable, along with priceing the Xbox One X at 499$... and software output going down each new E3...... Does Microsoft still have any fight left in them? Thats what I wanted to ask. |
Dayyum at those 2 pics, look at how one is regressing year over year, while the other goes "this isn't even my final form yet", that's some DBZ type shit bruhh.
MS new strategy is to lure people in with the "most powafuru consul of all time" angle instead of creativity (ie exclusive games). Games are risky and cost too much to make. MS is all about the biggest surefire hits now. Their biggest games will keep coming but forget new AAA IPs from them, unless it's a online service game like Sea of Thieves. Thats another thing that was clear from yesterday. Esports and multiplayer games are the next big thing. Higher ups at MS likely put the division on a budget so they have to be careful how they spend their resources. They're even making timed exclusives out of indies now.

There is no doubt that this is the worst year ever for Xbox. Now is it over? Have MS given up?
I think this gen yes and they've just decided as evidenced by the super high scorpio price to stop hemorrhaging money this gen.
They might make a final stand with the launch of next gen in a few years. One last effort of a comeback. So maybe they're holding all the big investments until then. |
Yeah I was really surprised by the downgrade of Crackdown 3. Think MS has gotten enough from the development and is just putting it out there to close that chapter.
Even Agents of Mayhem looks better.
