N64 is my favorite Nintendo console, but the PS1 is my favorite Sony console. Some of my favorite games of all time are on the 64, like SSB (I dislike the sequels). However, PS1 had a much bigger library and absolute classics like Tekken 3, Gran Turismo 2, Medal of Honor.
So, PS1 gets it by simple sheer amount of absolute classics. It also helps that the N64, while more powerful, frequently would get a version of a 3rd party game with unwatchable cutscenes or crappy/missing soundtrack to fir the cartridge. Quake 2 is a good example, missing the absolutely AMAZING music of the PS1 version.
