For example, CDs meant more space for games, but cartridges meant basically no load times. Even their graphical approaches were starkly different, with the N64 going for a heavily filtered look employing high-end-for-the-time techniques like AA, trilinear filtering, and perspective correct texturing, while the PS1 had a sharper but more pixelated and jittery look. I kind of like that they're so different though, as each is charming in its own distinct way. |
