Of course players can take less money but good luck getting these guys together with smaller paychecks, lol. The salary cap is too small for that. The Warriors have done an amazing job over the years developing/acquiring players around their playstyle without having to just buy their way to a championship.
Look at yesterdays game, proof the Warriors - no matter how great they technically are - can still be contested. They lost comfortably. The difference in this series and all throughout the playoffs is that GSW's are consistent. People make it seem like the Warriors are automated to win the championship. Basketball success is analog. KD is still sweating and running and throwing down 3's with less than a minute to go to win games. It is not easy to win championships.
Yes, Durant's teammates makes championships come easier than they did in OKC. If Durant's "disloyalty" leaves a bitter taste, fair enough. But ever since he played in Texas he has been a singular talent at 7'4" who can do anything with a basketball. He's avoided any trouble and conducted himself with class. No player is more deserving of an NBA title. Loyalty to truth matters, too.
You are disappointed? These finals have the highest average viewership (20 million viewers per game) since the '98 bulls when Jordan won his last title. People keep tuning in apparently, I guess they like being disappointed.
