From best to worst:
Gen 8: VR has become a reality, so many amazing jaw dropping game redefining moments. BotW is the best Zelda I've played. Elite Dangerous was an amazing experience exploring the Galaxy and actually being able to land and drive on planets. Super Mario maker is the most fun I've had with Mario games.
Gen 5: Wipeout 2097, FF7,8,9, MGS, Micro machines, V-Rally, NF3 Hot pursuit, GT2, Tombraider 2, Crazy Taxi, OOT, so many riches.
Gen 7: HD gaming, 360 provided the excellent start, ps3 the best finish. GT5 online kept me busy for over a year. Super Mario Galaxy, Super paper Mario, Ratchet and Clank, LBP, Dead rising, all 3 consoles were on fire last gen. Plus gen 7 made indie games popular on consoles which puts it above gen 6 for me.
Gen 6: PS2 was damn good yet I was distracted by Everquest and WoW for most of that gen. PGR, Ico, SotC, Windwaker and Okami were the highlights of gen 6.
I was gaming on PC only before gen 5, except for MSX way back.
