A lot of the science surrounding homosexuality is still very basic, choppy, and very theoretical, so yes it is more complicated. I wrote "as I say before" because i was repeating myself and some people do read all comments.
Is not just a mutation, that makes zero sense since is present in other species and has been like that for milions of years, more than enought time for nature to erase it. It may not be a benefit for the individuals but as a species it may be benefitial in some way, just because the reason is not obvious it doen't mean is not there.
