I wouldn't find a 40 YO man walking naked down the streets disgusting. I would find it inappropriate. And that is most definitely a social taboo. Finding elderly sex disgusting, however, has nothing to do with any kind of romantic notions.
You are correct, though, in the sense that a lot of it is due to not finding elderly people as sexy and hence not being esthetically pleasing to watch.
Then again there are gerontophiles. And the much more common pedophiles. If society was what molds your preference in sexuality then those people shouldn't exist. Your preferences, your likes and dislikes, your fears and phobias...I believe those are mainly due to your DNA and to a much lesser extent due to your upbringing.
I'd like to address Jumpin's question as well - personally while I watch porn I imagine I'm the male in this fantasy. I'm a white guy. Obviously if it was any other race I'd have a much harder time associating myself with the actor. Same with games - I'd prefer a protagonist that is 20-30 year old caucasian male than a woman, kid, elderly of whatever other race.
