Literally China is now more progressive in this regard than we are.

The future of global energy is alternative energies. Investing in alternative energy helps us in the long run because it gives us a leg-up in the global market. If we can become the primary exporter and developer of new energy sources, it will be an economic boon.

Of course, it is not only up to the government to help push this along, but businesses as well. But if we have no restrictions put in place, then businesses here will see no reason to continue investment because the economic return won't be as profitable.

If our businesses don't need to invest in our own products to efficiently rein in emissions, then our companies will obviously have to expand overseas in order to continue functioning. They will move jobs and profits overseas because the market here will be non-existent.

The only thing that leaving the agreement does is give cost benefits to a small number of large manufacturing corporations, and hamstrings our development in what is certainly going to be a global industry.

TLDR: Even if you don't give a fuck about humans, animals, or anything, the financial ramifications of this are severe.
