Yeah so much for the death of PC market lol... Reading all these articles, I was shocked when I realized from research that tablet market sizenever had surpassed PC market, their smallest difference ever was 30-40m... Well, pc market stopped reaching the heights of 310-320mm+ shipment per year , it fell to 250-260m+, so some journalist and analysts hastened to predict the death of the market and some other were overstating with the decline, they forgot where pc market was before 6-8 years...
Does it remind you something?
The reason why tablet market hasn't fallen even more is the existence of a specific type of devices like Microsoft surface Pro and may rebound in the future because of these! |
Most of the doom comes from the erosion of low end pre-built PCs but also conveniently ignoring all the other data that shows growth in general hardware shipments and growth in the high end market.
I think tablets are a bit stuck, they do not have the portabiltiy of a phone nor the multi-tasking capacity of a PC (except for the Surface ones). Personally, my Android tablet is mostly a glorified Youtube player when I don't want to be at my PC.
