8th generation sales will be closer to 5th generation than 6th generation.
When I made this in mid 2014 I was actually thinking that 8th generation might do worse than 5th generation however I thought to myself that something will happen to blow up that prediction. Anyway I should be right as the current sales of 105 million total console sales is a long ways from 170 million.
Unless something dumb happens and my prediction blows up again.
