FF7R was annouced to coincide with 20th anniversary.

They could have just released the FF Collection and called it a day, sheesh. Dragon Quest XI was announced on July 28th 2015 and it's releasing almost exactly 2 years later on July 29th this year. That's how you announce a game.

They also said that they wouldn't remake FFVII unless a Final Fantasy game surpassed it in sales, which never happened. So I really have come to not trust anything that comes from the Square side of development. I'd rather be surprised about a game coming in 1 year than 6, and it's only the first part. The bottom line is, Square has issues announcing games. Sure, it got a great response, it's FFVII but hearing this news has got my hard on for FFVII gone flaccid...yes I went there.

That's what Wada said. None agreed with him on that. After he stepped down SE made a complete turn around of his policies. Comparing DQ11 to a remake of globally renowned title is not a good choice. Not only is the DQ series very formulaic, the manpower/time needed to develop them is nowhere FF levels. 20th anniversary of FF7 is to celebrate FF7; what relevance would an general collection have? Internet was outraged at the FF7 port troll annoucement. We been begging for an FF7R for over 10 years. Perfect opportunity comes up and you want a collection over the remake?
