If they make characters and not caricatures then I think I'll try the game out. From the last video, it sounds like they intend to make characters and not caricatures, so I am definitely interested.
I find the oversimplification of certain American cultures in media quite disappointing, so it will be interesting to see something nuanced (if it can be achieved.)
For an example, one would be surprised to discover that Western states were the first to give women full suffrage, and are less religious than the country overall. 
Check out MT on these maps. I understand it is fiction, but I want it to be grounded in some level of reality. Hopefully it pans out.
