Sony PS4 partners with FIFA 18 to combat Xbox Scorpio launch – rumor

Sony may be teaming up with EA Sports for FIFA 18, which could see exclusive content, PS4 Pro bundles and more as it seeks to combat Xbox Scorpio launch.

This could be a massive move by Sony for PS4 gamers. Check out the image above, which shows a Polish YouTuber at a recent FIFA 18 presentation in Germany. You see that sign behind him, with PS4 Pro emblazoned in the top left?

That’s signally to us that Sony may have signed some sort of partnership with FIFA 18 which could well combat the launch of Xbox Scorpio in Q4 2017. Check out the screenshot from the same event  for FIFA 17 last year with the Xbox branding during the time when Microsoft had a strategic partnership with Electronic Arts. Interestingly, this long partnership apparently came to an end in December 2017, and we’ve yet to hear who, if anyone, has signed up with EA Sports for another deal.

Considering that the Microsoft contract has come to an end, and we haven’t heard anything more, we presume then that another contract is under negotiation, and judging by the PS4 Pro branding, PS4 players might be about to enjoy the benefits on a strategic partnership.

This could mean multiple things. In the deal that Xbox One has/had with the FIFA series they added Legend players to Ultimate Team exclusively for its players, so Sony could be striking similar deals for exclusive content. It also means that PS4 branding could be more prominent through the pre-launch period, possible exclusive modes, PS4 Pro FIFA 18 bundles, and even timed-exclusives.

At the moment, this is just one big rumor, but we won’t be surprised at all to see Sony reveal its FIFA 18 new partnership at E3 2017.
