There are many good reasons to jump in now instead of wait.
For one, live through the early growing pains of a new format that's the precursor of future gaming. There are lots of experimental games and experiences to try. It's fun to experience the fast pace at which new ideas are implemented and replaced again.
Would you have rather waited until gen 6 to jump into 3D games instead of experience the early days on n64 and ps etc. Or wait until gen 7 when 3D games were finally stable and all got similar tropes and control schemes. VR is in its experimental phase. If you're feeling adventurous (and have the money) now is a great time to explore VR.
