| Bandorr said: What is a game worth, or what is SF 2 worth? Wasn't the SF 2 HD like $15 back in 2008? So absolutely that isn't anywhere close to $40 in 2017. Then you are mixing in services that "only" give you older games (like Xbox pass) with services that just happen to give you games (GWG, PS) with VR, indie, and mobile games. You can't compare any of those against any of those. |
That was a digital download though. Not a physical cart with both original and remix mode and extras (succesful or not)
The physical release (together with 7 other games) was $40. Ofcourse if you like all 8 that's only $5 per game.
I mixed in services since I'm just as curious what people think game services are worth, next to what owning games on physical or digital is worth. I pay $10 a month for standard Netflix. How is $15 for game streaming not reasonable next to that.
VR games, indie games, mobile games, all games. What's a good price for them?
VR games seem to come at a premium in the time value department. Yet it's a new format like 4K UHD movies which come at a premium price. Why is it wrong for VR games to cost more? The userbase is still tiny.
Indie games always have a struggle when trying to go bigger and ask a bit more. It's like they all should stay in the $20 bracket.
Mobile games seem to have put themselves in a tough spot. If $10 is too much, then how are those mobiles, that come ever closer to console like possibilities, going to sell $60 games?
