That's a cool chart in the OP.
I've gotten pretty good at determining which games I'll really enjoy from the trailers or gameplay footage. If I think it looks great, I'll buy it at full price, whatever that price happens to be. If I'm unsure, then I either just skip it regardless of price, or grab it cheap. For me it's really that simple.
