Anyway, I'm finding Uratarou to be really interesting.
It's set in ancient Japan and is about a dying girl who loves life and an immortal guy who wants to die. Chiyo is on a quest to find the secret of immortality and Uratarou is on her list of possible sources. Unfortunately, though he's immortal, he has no idea why can't die and thus cannot give her what she seeks. When he learns that she might somehow be connected to his unknown origins, he gives in to her plea to join her quest when she promises to find a way to kill him.
It also seems that she is someone whose death is considered very important and that some very evil and powerful forces are turning their attention in her direction.
It's quite bloody and the art-style is interesting. Lots of historical people are represented as powerful and dangerous figures.
