I think dwindling popularity of fighting games have also hurt Japanese games. All the old school 2d fighters on Super Nintendo and genesis. The 3D fighters like Tekken, virtual fighter, dead or alive, etc really aren't that popular anymore. I miss the days of the fighting games.
