But one of the reasons Trump was elected was so we could have a less hostile relationship with the Russians, as no one in America (and I'm sure Russia), and certainly not the rest of the world wants the two of us to go at it again, and despite his crazy actions, Trump seems to be the best bet at getting along with the Russians more.

 The allegation is that he shared information from a source that did not give permission for the information to be shared. That is considered an important consideration in the intelligence community. It could put the source in danger. It could make the source angry and refuse to deal with us any longer, thus hurting our intelligence operations. Supposedly, information about the source is highly sensitive, to the point where the intelligence they gather could expose them. That probably means they are high enough rank to have access to protected information so losing them would be no laughing matter.
