Wal-Mart culture - Why do the "People of Wal-Mart" go shopping dressed in pajamas?

this is very much a american thing.

Many japanese people go to convenience stores wearing tracksuit in mid night.

Tracksuit is a step up from pajamas though.

I dont see why anyone would have issue with people wearing tracksuits shopping.
