I'm keeping my expectations as realistic as possible here, but here's what I expect, or at least hope to see.

Super Mario Odyssey - Duh!

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - English Trailer, and release date

Pikmin 4 - Trailer and release for Autumn this year. Miyamoto said it was close to completion, so it may come sooner than we think.

Rabbids and Mario RPG - I still find the idea absurd, but it sounds real enough apparently. I don't think it'll be published by Nintendo though. It'll just be a Ubisoft game that Nintendo licensed out the characters to I think.

Two Brand New IPs, One from EPD 6 (the 1-2 Switch team) and one from EPD 7 (the Rhythm Heaven team) - This one's more of a personal hope on my part. EPD 6, headed by Kouichi Kawamoto, recently made 1-2 Switch and Miitopia, considering both were released within mere months of each-other, I expect to see something new from them at some point, My guess is some sort of music game. EPD 7, headed by Katsuya Yamano, is primarily known for the WarioWare and Rhythm Heaven series. I would like to see a new game from them as well. Perhaps Ko Takeuchi (WarioWare Character Designer) can Direct a game.

Retro's New game - Whatever it is

Fire Emblem Switch - Early 2018, Trailer, also a trailer and release date for Fire Emblem Warriors too.

Grand Finale: Metroid for Nintendo Switch - Yeah, I know it sounds like a fans wet dream, but I wouldn't expect more than a short gameplay-less teaser. I do think Metroid will make a big comeback soon though.

Don't expect Pokemon Stars (which if it were real, it would not be for the Switch, so give up that pie in the sky dream already), Zelda DLC, Virtual Console, or even online plans, those are non-announcements that can be handled in a later Nintendo Direct. This Nintendo Spotlight should mostly be just games.

Well actually on the contary, if Pokemon Stars is real it's more likely to come to the Switch than 3DS.

Nintendo is only shipping 6 million 3DS units this fisical year (Up until March 2018), kind of low if they're planning to release one of the most popular franchise's in gaming on that system? Second Nintendo isn't even showcasing anything 3DS related for the Nintendo Spotlight event (you know the main part of their E3 event) I highly doubt a new 3DS Pokemon game is something you announce during a Nintendo Treehouse Live Stream. Lastly the entire 'Pokemon Stars' rumour is based on it being an HD Pokemon game which is only possible on an HD console; the 'Switch'.

Look, I'll gladly eat a crow if I'm wrong, but I don't believe that Game Freak would make one version of a Pokemon game exclusive a console that didn't even get the other versions. If you're making Stars for the Switch, you might as well port over Sun and Moon as well. If it was cross platform with the 3DS, then I could see it maybe being plausable, but I don't buy the fact that they're making just one version of gen 8 for the Switch because it makes no logical buisness sense. Unless the Switch is backwards compatible with 3DS wireless connections, having just one version to trade with defeats the entire selling point of Pokemon. And it's not the first time another main Pokemon game was released late in a system's life Pokemon Black and White 2 were released for the DS a whole year after the 3DS released.

Plus, it probably wouldn't be announced in the Spotlight anyway, The Pokemon Company typically reveals games on their own time, not Nintendo's. Nearly every Pokemon game to date was revealed prior to E3, maybe this time is different but I have very little reason to believe things will change in that regard.

However, it would be hillarious if Stars turns out to just be some throwaway spin-off game for the holidays rather than a mainline entry.
