I never really saw the genre as being all that big to begin with, certainly not in a way where we saw more hack n' slash games than we saw RPG/Shooters anyway.
ALso most AAA devs cba with the genre it seems, outside of two that is. Really we should be having a go at devs for not making any new innovative, completely different (because let's be honest, not many are absolutely different, just like shooters/RPG's aren't entirely) hack n' slash games, rather than blaming it all on another genre for being liked more than the other.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
