Well, the game went gold, just yesterday, so they most definitely were doing something.  Also, story mode doesn't exist within the arcade version of the game.  The fighting mechanics itself, have been tweeked since 2015, through the arcades, with the story being added later on.  The game is better because of it.  Don't think anyone wants the arcade version of the 2015 version of Tekken 7.  If it had gone the street fighter route, that's exactly what we would have gotten.

To be precise, not that it makes a difference, but it went gold some time before May 6. They just didn't announce it until yesterday:

But yeah, they have added a lot of cool stuf in between the arcade versioon and the console version. In story mode you can spam Electric Wind Godfists (and other moves) with just one button. Good for beginners who just wanna get through the story. The transitions between cutscenes and fights look really cool too.
Gallery mode seems to have all the cutscenes from every Tekken game, and artwork and movies from things we probably havent seen before, like pachinko games.
I'm mostly glad about Jukebox mode though. It's a Free feature for PS4. Looks like it'll cost money for XBO and PC?
So if you're interested in that mode and can chose what platform to get the game for, keep that in mind. Has every track from every Tekken game, and you can customize music for each stage, and even change songs after doing stagre transitions (as they do between rounds some times).

Have they said how long the story mode of the game will be?
