Hey guys, I need help with my computer. Yes, ME >_>

Yesterday my computer was working as usual, then when I'm back home today, when I turn it on, it says "NTLDR is missing". I've gotten this error in the past, but I alway took the easy way (format), but now I can't do that as I have some important stuff on that hard drive. What would be the process to fix this? By the way, I'm using Windows XP Pro SP2 Har, har, har! Edition if you're wondering.

Thanks in advance fellas. I'm gonna search Google for this while I wait for replies.
