It's smart devices that should be fearing Nintendo not the other way round.

Always suprises me when gamers are well aware that 'waggle' and kinect had a limited use due to the lack of buttons yet they still think Nintendo are going to be beaten by touchscreen games. I think it's called cognitive bias or something.

Music and video don't require dedicated controls. Games will always need them. Apple and android can't take over the whole gaming industry unless they start putting analogue sticks on the latest phone/tablets. Supporting controllers isn't enough as we've all seen on the PC.

Switch is more than capable of doing everything a tablet can do in regards to entertainment whether that's natively on the Switch or via screen mirroring. It also has a handy TV-out dock with it's own remote control so if/when Skype, FB, Netflix and the others make an appearance it becomes a better entertainment device than any tablet or smartphone.

Meanwhile Sony and MS are still fighting a pointless battle over the living room in an era when the TV itself might be dying.
