Didn't Black Onyx come out even before?

In any case, the creators of all those games mentioned how much they got influenced by 2 western game series, Wizardry and Ultima, and it shows as they are all a bit of mix and match of both games. So clearly these 2 game series needs to get into the Hall of fame (and, by extention Akalabeth: World of Doom, as it was Richard Garriot's prototype for the later Ultima series) as mixing those games together made the entire genre of JRPGs

No, it's not about who came first. It's about who popularized and shaped it for the future. That's FF and to a lesser extent DQ. It's a Hall of Fame.  Not a Hall of Who Came First.

You can see that in how certain games were chosen within their own series. It's not GTA 1 or 2, it's GTA3 because it shaped open world games to come despite being entirely based on its predecessors and most likely other games. It's Street Fighter 2 and not Street Fighter because the original wasn't refined enough to have an impact.

That I know, the Black Onyx was just a question to Segata which of these games came out first, but I know none of these where nearly as influential as DQ or FF was.

My point about Wizardry and Ultima still stands though, since they shaped both eastern and western RPG design and where very long living series (Ultima online can still be played, Wizardry still has some games coming out in Japan and Wizardry Online)
