Compared to people that pirate on the actual console, even if 100% of cemu users pirate BOTW it wouldnt even make up 5% of the total users who pirated BOTW. same goes for any game. Its far more cheaper and easier to pirate on a WiiU console then it is to play cemu and pirate on PC with far less bugs too. |
Yeah, after looking it a bit closer to those 4k60 videos of BotW running on Cemu, it turns out they are sped up and run far slower on the actual already beefy hardware. Actually this one lists the build specs
$1551 in parts to run it.
Plus that's not a taxing area he's demonstrating. It's impressive, yet I wonder what happens when flying accross the map or in fights with many enemies. Nor does it look that impressive to be honest. Still very much looks like a game for 720p.
Emulation is not wrong, yet I rather they wait until the console in question is a gen old. Now the Switch is out, Wii emulators are fine. WiiU is cutting it close and making money off games that are still for sale is unethical. Sure it's all fine when you own the game (although not entirely legal in a lot of countries) yet people can't be trusted. 3DS emulators are around too, even advertise with Get all the Nintendo games preloaded for free with <> so you do not have to buy anything, just install and play, while the new 2DSXL is about to come out. And sure, modded 3DS likely has by far the lion share of pirated games, which is probably why Nintendo is going after 3ds mods instead of emulators

Again emulation is not a bad thing, yet why distribute it. At the least they could impose some ethics and lock out games that haven't gone out of print yet. And if Cemu can be bothered with adding DRM on their emulator, they could also ask to show proof of purchase before unlocking games on the versions they give out. Showing some goodwill will keep emulators out of court, better for everyone.
