Games like these don't really need a final version. You hop in, the devs continually improve it as long as player base is there and then it dies off. I'd say living through all the changes in this "beta" stage is part of the experience.
I doubt this game will be talked about much a year from now.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
