If someone has an issue with this then they probably don't have their priorities straight in first place. Who cares what happens in the multiplayer component and if they are Resistance fighters in the single player; who cares? Enjoy the game for what it is.
Gamers have like 3 WWII (2 which are rumored to have female leads) to choose from in the next couple of years. Pick the one you like and play it.
If anything not having a Female fighting back is unrealistic. They may not have been in the military at the time, but they definitely revolted. Do you really thing that scurried up in ha ball and said "Kill me, kill me!?" No, they defended themselves when they could. I mean some laid down out of fear but there were women back then that had just as big of a bark then as some do today.
