No Switch?

Naw mate, didn't you hear it's literally impossible to port software like darksiders onto the Switchs hardware!

-snip-

Switches hardware just isn't capable of running a AAA big game like Mass Effect Andromeda so it wont run Darksiders either

-snip-

Shit.... is my browser doing that thing again where it pastes images into posts? I'll have to talk to IT support about that.

In theory almost anything could be scaled onto the Switch, but i'm not sure what point your examples here are meant to make. The WiiU was more capable than the systems both of those games were built around, where as the PS4 and X1 are almost a full generation jump ahead of a portable-mode Switch (the baseline around which Switch games have to be built). How the WiiU fares with PS3/360 games is fundamentally irrelevant to how the Switch fares with PS4/X1 titles.

The end result of this gap is that the minimum specs for many new releases are several magnitudes above a portable Switch. That doesn't make a port impossible, even a PS2 could run almost any PS4/X1 game with enough scaling, culling, and re-engineering. The issue is that because the Switch falls far below what these game were built around, a specialised port needs to be created. Some developers will think it's worth it (especially those whose games already scale down that far), but other won't be interested. That's inevitable.

If the Switch is an overwhelming success and can prove it's a viable place for western 3rd parties to succeed, then we'll likley see more games being designed with the Switch in mind from the start. For now though, the majority of western 3rd parties will probably ignore it.
