Microsoft: continues to blend Windows with Xbox, maybe in the future they'll just rename Xbox to Surface Home or something, they're not interested in the traditional game industry anymore, what they proclaimed in 2013 is still alive. They just want to conquer the living room. Looking at the recent interviews they see major $ in the service model and long term monetization.

Threat level to exit: high

Sony: will continue dominate the living room by giving consumers and creators what they want. Put a decent box out there and let the developers do what they want, a natural environment for service titles like Destiny, cinematic titles like Uncharted and everything in between to shine. Things just work because they dont get a sudden revelation like MS making them go as if there should be 1 path forward for gaming and forcing that on their customers.

Threat level: low, Playstation will only be at risk if TVs died out and people stopped having living/bedrooms in their homes.

Nintendo: Nintendo's future should be in homes as well, the mobile and non-gamer market is extremely fickle, the Switch in essence is a handheld, the handheld gaming market collapsed. It'll be a disappointment if they sell only as much as the 65-70M of the 3DS, their lowest selling handheld.

Threat level: moderate. They should partner with Apple for a console and get preferential treatment on the mobile Appstore.
