In this particular case, he asked for a police investigation three times, and was denied three times.
And he is just one of many examples. So it's not just "USA propaganda" even if they have an agenda here as well, but there are things that people in general, regardless of their origin, find very suspicious.

personally I find it far harder to believe that the FSB was trying to kill him and failed twice at such a soft target in the exact same way, most likely he has other issues. This just doesn't seem to be a realistic scenario, if they wanted him dead he would be dead..
