If Scorpio should under perform.. it should tell both companies that preaching to the PC crowd is pretty much useless, and only the hardcore were going to switch over. Only the small fraction of the mainstream is going to be interested in mid-gen hardware releases and the latecomers will probably just go for the cheaper option. Power users and PC gamers are going to PC game.
I think that in both cases (PS pro and Scorpio) that they are both great on paper. Though, I'm willing to be that most people who game on consoles just want the a machine to play the latest games on.. no matter which one plays 4k, has all the bells and whistles on.
