One thing that I don't get is why people keep asking for 1080p/60fps or 4k/60 fps? FPS is not a standard and that's that. I would much rather have a gorgeous adventure title at 1080p/30fps than a mediocre looking one at 4k/1080p.

Not every game has to be rock solid 60fps. The time when photo-realism at 60fps is a standard is still a couple of generations away. Hell, maybe at that point generations wont even be relevant anymore. While I love a solid 60fps in a side-scrolling Mario title, I don't mind that Horizon is locked at 30. It doesn't hurt the gameplay in any way, shape or form.

Did you just say 4k/1080 or do you mean 4k or 1080p? Anyway, the point is that we should be pushing tech incrementally. We cant even get to 1080p 60fps and were already ready to push 4k before more houses are ready for it just to say it was done. Sony realized it wasnt in their best interest to push 4k so soon, so they went with cherboarding as an alternative. It doesnt push things too far and gives an alternative where its necessary.

That is if the tech restricts the software advancements. Turn10 have showed that they can optimize Forza 6 engine to achieve 4K60fps with just 66% of the GPU usage on the devkit prior to full XDK release, without performance compromise.

This means not only can Project Scorpio hit native 4K 60FPS in original Xbox One games, but it can do so with GPU power to spare. Furthermore the stress test apparently only used 66% of the early kit's 5GB of memory, and the final Project Scorpio hardware will have 12GB of unified GDDR5 memory with a 326GB/sec bandwidth.
