But you do understand that "looking for signals" is not what consent is defined as right?

"Signals" and body language can be misinterpretted often that is why consent is defined as an enthusiastic verbal response

Suppose the woman in question is just being friendly because she feels she's expected to and you misinterpret that and she considers you kissing her to be offensive?

Yes it is. You won't find it restricted to "verbal" by any reputable source. Oxford, Webster, etc.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/consent
http://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/definition/english/consent_1
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consent

There can be grounds for misinterpritation of signals. But when someone admits that they "don't even wait" for them, that is not one of those times.

i wasn't speaking of dictionary definitions

i'm talking about what consent is currently being reclassified into by people considered to be authority figures on this matter

" But when someone admits that they "don't even wait" for them"

they don't wait for what specifically? a verbal yes? if so you've said you don't wait for a verbal yes either
