I've been scared to take meds, because my dad got injured, and got painkillers to help him. He ended up becoming addicted, moved on to other drugs, caused a rift between him and my mom which resulted in divorce and my moving to Canada, and ended with him killing himself because he was too depressed to live on.

That's pretty heavy stuff and I can see why you'd be wary. I know painkillers can have addiction issues, I think it's less common with medication for anxiety/depression but still possible.

As long as you just take your regular normal dose though I don't see how a probelm could arrise. Unlike painkillers anti-depressants aren't designed for rapid relief. They only really have an affect after being taken regularly over a period of time. But I'm not a doctor.

Actually, that reminds me of the time that I took my brother's meds by accident before (I took medication for acne, but one day I took the wrong thing). I was so happy and social, I was thinking "WTF? Why am I so happy while at school?" Of course, it eventually wore off and I went down again, and I came to the conclusion that it must have been the meds.
