The problem is people could only get Halo Wars DE via Halo Wars 2 Special Edition ($80). So not many have it or playing Halo Wars 2 instead. Halo Wars DE should have launched well before Halo Wars 2 to get people hyped about the sequel.

MS is objectively doing better at PC gaming, but still making mistakes.

To be fair Halo Wars 2's online population has also imploded. I haven't played it since about a week after launch because waiting for a match was taking way to long. If I could get one at all.
