Steep is a demanding enough game which just released last December on PC, Xbox One and PS4, so it should provide us with a good idea. |
I'd personally say Steep is still relatively lacking (it's good at what it does, but still overall technically reserved which makes sence given it's a smaller sports release), but if Ubisoft optimise it well for the Switch then it'll definitely be a more useful reference point than what we have now. There are specific aspects of its tech we havn't seen on the Switch yet, so it'll be interesting to see how many/if it can replicate them.
My point aimed more at the macro scale though. While games like Steep can be interesting singular comparisons, but if all we get is the occasional mid-tier (tech wise) title like that or Lego City, it'll be hard to work out where the effect of optimisation disparity ends. We initially had the same problem with the Pro.
I'm hoping if the Switch is a large enough success, it'll at last start getting stuff like new CoD entries. The series is hardly a technical powerhouse, but over time stuff like that could give us a clearer image.
