Thanks to the way more simplistic design and linear structure, yes, but it wasn't nearly as impressive as Mario 64 or even close to be as revolutionary as Mario 64 was, that game was an epic wow back in the day. Nowadays I confess I rather play Crash 2 or 3, they are still fun games but they are not exactly Super Mario Bros 3, their style of gameplay has really aged a lot. It will be a great nostalgia trip thought.

See I can't even compare crash 2 and 3.  The joystick controls and gameplay variety in 3 just puts it head and shoulders above the rest of the series for me.  And 1 is simply unplayable.

The 2nd can be controlled with joysticks too, it plays just as fine as the 3rd. I was convinced that 3 was the best one until I replayed the 3 of them last year, surprisingly my opinion changed, the 2nd is the one I enjoyed the most, some of the variety on the 3rd was actually a pain in the ass (like the car stages).

The first one has aged a lot but is not unplayable, I finished it when I was 7 years old lol
