Lol.... I think a lot of people aren't seeing these console iterations for what they really are. Even after sony kinda let it slip.

These mid cycle refreshes are in truth just generation extenders without the risk of losing their core user base to always getting cheaper PC hardware.

At the end of the day, this ensures they can release the next consoles in 2020/2021 ( a good 7-8yrs) after they launched the current consoles and not too many people would bitch and complain.

That also puts them in a position where they can release PS5/XB2 hardware with already established (aka cheaper) components and hit a entry level $400 price point. Its all about the Looong game.

Lat year thre was hardware buzz, this year there is hardware buzz again.... next year they will be silent and just talk about services and games and price cuts and deals..... then in 2019 the rumors will start making the rounds again. Then it 2020 there will be reveals and maybe even releases.

Sony litterally said this was why the Pro was coming out. Because near the end of the generation hardcore gamers tend to want a more powerful system, so they made the Pro to try and keep them in the ecosystem.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
