There will always be faults when trying to replicate reality, especially when you try to aim for visuals. Games that also try to aim for photorealism end up aging not all that well.
Also who says the other platforms aren't also going to aim for some photorealism?.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
