I have not taken on the final dungeon, but the only dungeon where the game is not generous with save points is the second to last dungeon.
If you die at a mini-boss/boss, you can restart the boss battle.
Persona 5 is significantly harder than Personas 3 and 4. Its difficulty, extreme length, and waifu-ing might be off-putting to some people.
It's still the greatest game ever.
