I agree in principle that the limited ability to save is a definite negative. I've said it before, but forcing me to replay the same section over again is awful game design, and is more tedious than challenging. There are much better ways to add challenge to a game than to give me a chore if I lose.
That being said, saving in 5 is much much better than the vanilla version of 4. I can't tell you how many times I threw my controller at the wall in a fit of rage after getting ambushed suddenly. I still get triggered thinking about it.
