I always argued the 1-10 scale system is stupid. 1-5 makes more sense, because everything between 1-4 is basically shit. While 5-7 is different levels of tolerable.

That's really only because game reviews are so generous. Any game that isn't fundamentally broken is  pretty much always going to get above a 5, and that doesn't really make sense.
